On January 20, 2021, Joseph R. Biden was sworn into the office of the 46th President of the United States. Vice President Kamala Harris made history as the first woman of Black and South Asian descent to hold the office of Vice President. We offer them our congratulations.

SisterLove, in solidarity with the larger sexual health and reproductive justice community, urges the Biden-Harris administration to prioritize the following:

  • Ending the COVID-19 pandemic through methods recommended by the medical and scientific community; passing a mask mandate; and, offering the vaccine to all Americans.

  • Protecting and strengthening the Affordable Care Act, particularly focusing on protections for people with pre-existing conditions so that America can become a country of healthcare for all.

  • Implementing a plan to eradicate HIV/AIDS by providing funding for federal programs that benefit people living with HIV/AIDS through methods recommended by the reproductive justice community; and, engaging people living with HIV/AIDS in the development of this plan.

SisterLove is reaching out to the Biden-Harris administration to further discuss these priorities. Our goal is to ensure that people living with HIV -- especially Black women -- have access to affordable healthcare, housing and jobs. We continue to strive for a society free from discrimination and stigma.

At the time of this article, President Biden has signed 17 executive orders to reverse former President Trump’s policies. These initial executive orders involve the coronavirus, the environment, and immigration.
