The Power In Naming: A reproductive health webinar for understanding human anatomy.

Do you remember sex ed in high school? Was it thorough? Was it gender expansive? Medically accurate? If so, you are very lucky! Some of us may have had amazing introductions to sex-ed. For others, it may have been awkward and stigmatizing.

When you were little, did you have nicknames for reproductive organs? My favorite for the word vagina, was “coochie”. Slang and pop culture influence the way we name our reproductive organs and that is super rad! Understanding the function of our bodies is a way to understand ourselves. We should be able to name and identify the parts of the reproductive systems without shame or guilt. The human reproductive systems are fascinating and exciting! As reproductive justice activists, it is essential to understand human anatomy and physiology using affirming, comprehensive, and medically accurate terms.

This webinar will feature Youth Engagement Coordinator, Nzingha Hall and GAMA project Intern, Marieh Scales reviewing and discussing the human reproductive systems. This moment is full circle for Nzingha and Marieh as they both are alumna of the Erinn J. Vuley Fellows program of the Feminist Women’s Health Center.
