Herschel Walker's Accuser Offers New Proof, Including Voicemails that say, "I am Telling the Truth.
Trump-backed Senate candidate Herschel Walker was accused by a second woman of telling her to get an abortion. After Walker called her story "a lie", the woman is now giving new evidence to back up her claim.
At a press conference, the woman's lawyer, Gloria Allred, said that Walker "had a romantic relationship with" the woman, who was only identified as "Jane Doe," for six years, impregnated her, and then pressured her to have an abortion, even though she wanted to keep the baby.
Allred says that Walker and Doe were together from 1987 to 1993. On Tuesday, Allred presented a large amount of evidence to try to stop Walker from saying that he doesn't know Doe.
Allred said that Doe found out she was having Walker's child in May 1993. "The person I was working with did not want an abortion."
Allred also said that Walker was said to have made threatening comments that made Doe think he was going to hurt her or the baby if she did give birth.
Walker previously said that Doe's accusations were "a lie" before. But on Tuesday, Allred and Doe said that Walker is the one who is lying.
Allred told reporters, "We have overwhelming evidence which supports the relationship between my client and Herschel Walker, including letters, audio recordings, diaries, cards, notes, photos and a declaration from a friend"
"We are here today to challenge Mr. Walker. Mr. Walker, do you have the courage to meet with Jane Doe, look her in the eye, and tell her that you do not know her? That you never told her how much you loved her? That you never met with her parents, or wrote them a letter, in your own handwriting in April 1993? That you did not make phone calls to her, telling her how much you loved her when you were at the Olympics in 1992? Mr. Walker, do you deny that it is your voice on the following audio recordings?", she continued.
Allred then played an old voicemail she says is from Walker. The man says in the recording, "Ah you, this is your stud farm calling, you big sex puppy, you. Can't believe you're not in. I will talk to you later, you be sweet. Bye bye."
Allred also played an audio clip with voices that sound like those of Walker and Doe saying "I love you" to each other.
Allred also read from a letter that Walker allegedly sent to the parents of her client in April 1993.
"First, I'd like to say Happy Easter. I wanted to say how I feel about [Jane Doe]. Sorry I didn't talk to you two when you were in Dallas, my problem is going slow, I don't want to say anything that is wrong," the letter reads.
It continues on to state: "I didn't want you two to think I'm a joke. I know now if you two are to understand, I have to say something. I do love your daughter, and I am not out to hurt her. She has been a strong backbone to me through all of this. She has not done anything wrong. If you two think what I'm doing is wrong, I will withdraw until I am out of this mess. I am sorry if I have put your family through so much. … I do love your Jane. I will always."
When reporters asked her why she came forward now, after all these years, she said she had "planned to take this to her grave." But when other women made accusations that were similar to Walker's, she decided to go public.
"I knew that he was lying based on my own experience," she said while crying, "and I needed to come forward."
In an interview that aired earlier this month on Good Morning America, an unnamed woman said that Walker had pressured her to have an abortion when she got pregnant in 1993 after having a six-year affair with the then-married football player.
The woman said, "He made it very clear that he did not want me to have the child." "And he said that because of his wife's family and the powerful people close to him, I and the child would not be safe."
She also said that the words were "very scary."
"I also felt like I was in danger," she said. I thought I didn't have a choice.
The woman said she went to an abortion clinic but couldn't go through with the procedure at first. She said she went back to the clinic after Walker talked her into it.
"He came to my house and picked me up, drove me to the clinic, and let me go in alone," she said, adding that Walker gave her cash to pay for the abortion. "He stayed in the car while I went in for the procedure and had it done."
The woman is the second person in the past few weeks to say that Walker, who says he is strongly against abortion, put pressure on her to have an abortion when he found out she was pregnant with his child.
Walker, like the second woman, said that the first woman's claims were "lies."
The first woman who said Walker pressured her to have an abortion told The Daily Beast that the athlete paid for the procedure. She gave the outlet "proof of her romantic relationship with Walker" as well as a $575 receipt from the abortion clinic and a picture of a signed $700 personal check from Walker along with a "get well" card.
In response to that report, Walker told Sean Hannity of Fox News, "I send so many get-well cards, and I send so many cards in general. But I can tell you right now that I have never asked anyone to get an abortion. It's not true that I paid for an abortion. And I'm not going to stop fighting."
Walker and Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock will face off in a runoff election in Georgia next month to decide who wins the Senate race.
The two candidates tied for first place in the general election this month, but neither got the required 50% of the vote to win the race outright.
