Martha Cameron

In 2003, Martha Cameron was diagnosed with HIV. She’s been an unstoppable advocate ever since. Originally from Zambia, Africa, she holds a Bachelor’s in education and a Master’s in Public Health. Martha started her career in Zambia as the executive director of an international faith-based non-profit called Every Orphan’s Hope (OH) Inc. where she had hands-on experience running HIV programs for orphans and widows. She still supports OH and Children’s AIDS Fund International to this day. Martha is actively involved in various other HIV policy, advocacy, quality, and research forums including the United States People Living with HIV Caucus Center for 8. Martha’s greatest strength as a leader is her persistence with key populations and her ability to build with like-minded key organizations. She has articulated her passion for making changes in policy, economic inequality, and eradicating stigma for women from all walks of life. She’s led and continues to lead prominent community health, human rights, economic, social justice, and advocacy organizations including CDC evidence-based programs. Martha is currently a research specialist for Georgetown Multicenter AIDS Cohort Women’s Interagency HIV Study (MWCCS Combined Cohort) and Study of Treatment and Reproductive Outcomes in Women (STAR). She proudly supports the DC Center for AIDS Research to foster Academic Community Partnerships.
