Tana Pradia
Tana Pradia is the proud mother of three children, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother who resides in Houston, Texas.
She’s been living with HIV since 1999 and almost immediately jumped into action to make a difference for others once she learned of her diagnosis.
After almost dying from TB, with a T-cell count of only 14 and a viral load out of control, being given a second chance is a blessing and something she does not take for granted. Without hesitation, she became a patient mentor. Later she took a Project LEAP class at RWPC and today she sits on the planning council for the very same organization. Tana then joined the Positive Organizing Project to learn how to successfully advocate and has since remained one of the mentors for the last five years.
She is also one of the co-founders of the PWN-GHA- the Texas Chapter and joined the PWN-USA Board of Directors in 2019 when she became the Treasurer. Tana is known for being unapologetic, committed, passionate, and determined! Once she commits to any project, she sees it through to its completion.
It’s who she is.
She has held many positions on the Houston (TX) Ryan White Planning Council, including Secretary and Chair. Tana was one of the co-founders of The Texas Strike Force which monitors bills and mobilizes the community to take action if that weren’t enough, she was one of the leads for HIA/PWN-H-Town Power GO-TV whose goal is getting people registered to vote and getting them to the polls.
True to who she is, Tana is a bold, fierce advocate for BIPOC women’s healthcare access and body autonomy, especially those living with HIV or vulnerable to acquiring HIV and all intersecting issues. Tana is always educating others about HIV prevention, especially women of color.
She is a prime example of a true leader who walks her talk every day.
